Entering Comments, Login and Profile Pages On every page where you added the Javascript for comments, the comments start with something like this:
Of course, it will usually start with "0 comments"When the user clicks on Post A comment, if this is the first time the user has clicked, they will be requested to sign-up (or register) to use the comments system. When registering, they are asked for their name and email address in addition to setting up a username and password. The registration screen looks like this: The author guidelines are located in an HTML page at submittersguidelines.htm You can edit that page, however you wish. The authors must also agree that they are 14 years old, or more. Upon completion of registration, an email is sent for verification. Only when a link in that email is clicked, can the registration be verified. This prevent pranksters for signing up. Only users with real email addresses can use the system. You will also receive an email, informing you that someone has signed up, with all their details. When a user has previously signed up, all they need do in order to enter comments is to put in their username and password and click the Login button. Note that a logged in user can enter comments in as many articles as they wish, without having to log back in, every time they wish to leave comments on a page. Their login information is kept in a cookie. So that means they never have to log in again, once having registered and logged in, once. Once having logged in, they go back to the page with the comments, which now looks like this:
There are two more links available here, in addition to the main Post A Comment link. When they click on Post A Comment, they see a screen like this: Here they can enter the subject of the comment and the comment itself. They can also choose colors for the text and the background of the text. When they press the Preview button, it shows them what the comment will look like, so they can either Post the comment or Revise the comment. When the comment is posted, you will receive an email (if that option is configured) with the text of that comment, so you can decide to allow the comment, or go to Max Comments to remove that comment, using the Control Panels. My Profile When the author clicks on My Profile, they see a screen that looks similar to their Registration screen where they can View or Modify their profile information. It looks like this:
By changing any item on this form (especially their Public Contact Info) and pressing Modify This Profile, they change their personal info. Logout This basically removes their cookie from their computer. (Actually, it just resets it to blank.) There's never a need to logout, unless switching authors. Once logged in, the cookie means they're always logged in. Expand, Shrink, Hide. These affect the way the comments are displayed. Pressing Shrink means the comments are displayed as titles only. Pressing Hide will effectively hide the comments (although the Post A Comment box will remain.) Viewing All Comments by an Author A comment looks similar to this: Test Comments This is a comment, and this is the text.
