Configuring the Max Shop Cart System Configuration comes in two parts: configuring the system and configuring the shipping charges. It's actually quite possible to enter the Products Control Panel with the default configuration. So it's suggested that you familiarize yourself with the Max Shop Cart pages and reading about the Products Control Panel and Order History, before coming back to configure the system. System Configuration. The system configuration is straight-forward. Note, esepcially, the field called URL of Max Shop Cart. That is where the system was put, on your website. It's important to know that this is used by the Paypal system to know where to return when an order is completed. Max Shop Cart Configuration Here’s how you configure the shopping cart system: The first few are all relatively straight-forward. The first time through, the username and password will both be 'admin' It would be a good idea to change these right away. Also, most of the fields have a Help button next to them, so you can review what the contents of the fields need to be. Note that Your Email Address and Paypal Account are both email addresses. But need not be the same. Then comes the field called Paypal Purchase Name. When customers pay by credit card, the money goes into your Paypal account which is the email address you enter into the next field called 'Paypal Account' On the customers statement that they get from Paypal, there will not be a list of products/services purchased from you. (This comes in a separate email from the Max ShopCart system sent to the Email Address.) Thus, they will see one line on their statement with the total purchase amount, and the name of what they purchased. This Paypal Purchase Name field is where you put the name of what they purchased. Examples: "Main Street Widgets" or "Acme Services" or "Your Company Name Products" Then there is the field labeled, "How many products/orders per page when displaying them?" On the Products Control Panel, where all your products that you've entered are being displayed, this number represents how many products will appear per page. For example, if you have 300 products, you probably don't want all 300 products to appear on the page display. Thus, you can set this to a lower number (such as 30) and you'll only see 30 products per page. Each page will have a Next and Back "button" so you can view all your products. This same number will be used when displaying the Order History. Next comes Subject line of Confirmation Email. When a customer makes a purchase, and pays for it, you get sent an email (naturally) so that you can fulfill the order. This is the Subject line on that email. An example frequently used is: "An Order has been completed -- and paid for!" Finally, there's a few fields where you can put notes for the customer on the various pages of the Max Shop Cart system. Configuring Shipping Charges At the top of the Configuration page is a button that reads, Configure
Shipping. This is where you enter your shipping charges. Here's how
you setup the shipping charges for your products. The shipping charge can
be a percentage of the total amount ordered. OR it can be a table.
The easiest way is to look at an example:
This says to charge $3 for shipping if the total order amount is between .01 and 10.00. Or charge $5 for shipping if the total order amount is between 10.01 and 40.00. Etc. Note that this is NOT the only way you can setup shipping charges for a product. When you are entering your products into the database, you can set a shipping charge for that individual product. If you do not enter a shipping charge for a product, the shipping charge will be calculated as above. Here's how to Configurie the Add to Cart buttons.
