Question: why would you need to export or import?

Answer: because you can backup the products that way.

If you want to move your Max Shop Cart system to a new server, you'd need to export your products to a text file. You'd need that text file when you moved the system to the new server.

Alternatively, if you want to have your own database of products on your own computer, this is a way to create a TAB-delimited file which most other programs can use to import.

The exported products text file is called maxproducts.txt This file is in the Max Shop Cart folder on your website, and will need to be FTP'ed to your computer, if you wish to move it physically.

Note that when you import products, they are appended to the products already in the products listing. This means that if there are already products defined, this will add to those products (possibly creating duplicates.) Of course, if the table is empty to start with, these will be the only products in the table.
