Overview of the Max Events System What is an Events Calendar? It's simply a listing of events being held. Anyone can add to this list of events. Each event has a date, title, address and description. Plus an optional website address (for more information) and an optional graphic image that can go on the event listing. Because anyone can post to the Calendar of Events, an email is sent to the site owner when an event is posted. Thus, if anything objectional or inappropriate has been posted, it can be easily removed. Visitors to your Events Calendar will find a link where they can sign-up to be a submitter to the Events Calendar. Anyone who wishes to post an event will need to sign-up for a userid and password. This allows them to edit/modify the event after it is posted. Without a login system, anyone could change anyone else's event listing -- and that is definitely not wanted. After a user registers with a userid and password of their choosing, they can Add an Event. After successfully adding the event, it will appear in the Calendar of Events page on your website. The Calendar of Events has a Date Select feature so that visitors can choose a date range of events to see. The default (or initial) date range is from 'today' up to 30 days from 'today.' Note: This documentation is meant to be read while you have the Max Events program operating in another window, so you can follow along. On every page of the system, you’ll find little graphic symbols next to the elements of the page. These symbols have a question mark and say HELP. By clicking on these HELP buttons, you see a little pop-up screen which gives you some information about what needs to be done, at that point. Next, we’ll look at the details of how to install the system. If you have had someone else install the system, and configure it for you, and all you want to do is start adding events, then you can skip right to Starting the Max Events System. |
