Configuring the Max List System Configuration means selecting certain attributes which make the Max List program run. System Configuration. The system configuration is straight-forward. You choose the userid and password which you will be using when you enter the Max List Control Panel. Then you choose the title you wish to apply to all the program pages. This is the name that you assign to the title(s) that will appear on the pages in this program as you use it. Whatever is put in the Title field will appear as page titles. Thus, if you use Acme Widgets, then (for example) the title of the Subscribers Control Panel page would be Acme Widgets -- List Name. Next is "Test Mode." If this is set to a "y", then that means that everything works the same, EXCEPT no emails will be sent from the Send Message routine. You may never choose to do this -- it was included because your humble author needed to test the Refresh of the mail log, without actually sending email. Next you see "How many items per page on the control
panel?" On the Lists Control Panel and on the Subscribers
Control Panel, this number represents how many lists (or subscribers) will
appear per page. For example, if you have 300 subscribers, you probably
don't want all 300 subscribers to appear on the same page. Email Servers: If you choose to send email with an SMTP email server (instead of the mail server on the webhost where Max List is installed) here you would enter the name of the email server (such as mail.domain.com) and if that SMTP server requires authentication, you would enter the username and password of your account with that SMTP server. Note that it is FAR more likely that the email will be sent successfully, if you use an SMTP server. Why? Because each webhost has it's own restrictions and limitations in sending email. Next, let's look at Starting the Max List System.... |
