Paying the Membership Fee

When the member is at their Login Profile, they can press the Pay Membership Fee button. This takes them to a page where they can choose to pay by credit card or by check.

On the payment page will be reflected the levels of membership that are setup in the Levels Control Panel. The members selected a membership level and then press a payment method button.

If by credit card, they get sent to Paypal.  And upon return from Paypal, their database entry is updated to reflect an expiration date of 1 year from today, if a yearly payment, or 1/1/2100 if a Lifetime payment.

If by check, they get presented with a page they need to print and send to you with their check. (Your mailing address is filled in on the Configuration page.)

Problems:  Sometimes (OK, a lot of the time) people will close the Paypal page after paying.  Thus, their database entry does NOT get filled in.  And the Max Members system does not recognize them as a member.

When informed of this, (or when you receive the Paypal notice of payment) you need to go to the Control Panel and use the Add Payment link next to their name.  You would also use the Add Payment link if they paid by check (when you receive their check.) This process is described on the Control Panel page.

Factually, it's a good idea whenever you receive the Paypal notice of payment, to go and check if the member was verified and if the payment is reflected when you press View next to their name.  If not, they probably closed the Paypal window before returning to the Max Membership program.  But you can always use the Add Payment link and that will do the same as if they had returned from Paypal, properly.
